This year's retreat will feature 6 days in Berlin and 3 days in Hamburg. Visit Germany's history-rich capital city, full of parks, studios, and creative spaces, then travel to Hamburg, the port city famous as one of Europe's most important cultural and commercial centers.

Last year's Innovation Retreat took place in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Travelers worked from various spots across the country, visited local markets, relaxed on beaches, and even learned how to clean elephants.

Monday, May 13th – Travel & Check-in

  • All attendees arrive in Berlin, Germany (travelers should make their own travel arrangements)
  • 3pm check-in at Moxy Berlin Humboldthain Park Hotel
  • Berlin is all about being central, affordable and eclectic- thats exactly the essence of our MOXY. Wednesday, May 15th – Berlin Underground Tour

  • Everyday hundreds of people walk past a green door in the Gesundbrunnen underground railway station, unaware that within lies a subterranean labyrinth full of history just waiting to be experienced. Berlin was the nerve center of the Third Reich and therefore one of the main targets for allied bombing during WW II. On this tour our expert guides will lead you in exploring one of the few remaining bunkers, as it was left after the war. There you will learn more about the life of the average Berlin citizen during the air-raids that destroyed up to 80 % of the city center. Traveling through the twisting passages and rooms, you will also see countless artifacts from the war that have been buried for decades. Additionally, by looking into the development of the city's subway and sewerage systems as well as its former pneumatic post, we will provide you with an insight to the 160 year old underground history of Berlin.

  • The Design Offices Berlin Unter den Linden sits directly on the city's beautiful complex of buildings "Kaiserhöfe", and therefore enjoys a unique status within the Berlin real estate market. Adjacent to Friedrichstraße  one of the city's main arteries  and two historic courtyards, this site is among the most exclusive that Berlin has to offer, making it a very special address at which to locate your business. You can rent this site as your Berlin office or as a virtual office  its exclusivity speaks for itself. The bike tour will lead to the different Design Office locations in Berlin and will give your group a perfect insight into co working spaces in Germany.

Saturday, May 18th – High Ropes Course

  • High Rope is a sporty activity with fun and thrill at the same time! You will climb high and do different team building activities during this experience. Without net and double bottom, but of course secured with straps and after a detailed safety briefing lead our qualified team guides through the high ropes course MountMitte. Up to 15 meters high and on 3 levels float and climb through 90 different elements of different difficulty levels. Beginners and professionals alike will get their money's worth.

Sunday, May 19th – Travel to Hamburg

  • The best way to discover the heart of Hamburg is by foot. In the surrounding of Hamburg’s town hall, which is one of the main attractions during the sightseeing walk, there are a lot more sights to discover: the impressive Kontorhaus district, the Alster lake and the Jungfernstieg, the churches of St. Nicolai and St. Michael or the nice Gängeviertel are waiting for your visit. The guide will give you information about the sights and tell you entertaining stories. Duration: ca. 2 hours

Tuesday, May 21st – Kiez Rallye Scavenger Hunt

  • Kiez Rallye Scavenger Hunt
  • This special rally delivers an unique kick. Discover the most sinful mile with all its sights and highlights. The GPS coordinates will lead you to the famous Große Freiheit, the world-renowned Ritze or to the Hans-Alberts-Platz. You and your colleagues not only spend a fun day in the outdoors and rich in variety, but you are also equipped with appropriate technical accessories
    (map, GPS device, tour booklet). With the help of your equipment, you and you coworkers discover the Hamburg Kiez and together solve exciting team tasks and games. This challenge requires a good sense of navigation, intelligence, creativity as well as strength and endurance. Don’t miss out on this fun and exciting experience! Approx. 2.5 hrs

Retreat Details


The complete timeline for the trip extends from Monday May 13th to Wednesday May 22nd. However, the retreat itinerary is subject to change.

Attendees should plan to arrive in Berlin by Monday May 13th and depart from Hamburg on May 22nd unless extending their trips in Europe.

Attendees are not required to attend all group excursions, but please note that we cannot adjust the cost of the trip if you prefer not to attend a particular activity.

While Paradigm is sponsoring the retreat, each attendee is responsible for his or her transportation and safety while traveling.

  • Since Germany is a member of the European Union (EU), all non-EU citizens will need a valid passport to travel. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months past the retreat date.
  • Some non-US citizens may require a special visa to visit Germany. To see if you need a special visa, visit
  • If you're coming from the US, be sure to bring an adapter or converter for your electrical devices.
  • Germany uses the Euro. You may want to request euros from your bank before traveling or sign-up for a 0% foreign transaction fee credit card.

Attendees are expected to pay for other meals/food outside of those provided in the itinerary.
